Kokoon Technology

Kokoon Technology Limited, trading as Kokoon, is a UK company incorporated in October 2013, operating in the Sleep segment of the HealthTech industry. Kokoon’s Sleep Headphones product sits beneath the cartilage of the ear and is thin, designed for comfort while also enabled for biometric measurement, and has won several awards for its technology.

Kokoon licenses its hardward technology and provides its proprietary software platform to help people achieve better quality sleep.
The Kokoon Sleep Headphones use biometrics to facilitate a better ‘sleep experience’ for the user and help the consumer in getting to sleep, to protect their sleep, and to fall back asleep should they wake up.
The Kokoon app platform processes real-time biometric data to adapt and optimise audio to the stage of sleep.

With a background in medical devices, the founders of Kokoon spent several years designing and engineering their first product, Relax, in late 2018. After extensive customer / user feedback, this was significantly refined and re-engineered into the Sleep Headphones product, launch in November 2021, and immediately won the Sleep Tech of the Year award from the UK's National Sleep Foundation. The imminent launch with Philips in September 2023 represents a further step forward in Kokoon's evolution.

The manufacture of the devices, previously managed directly by Kokoon in China, has now been transferred in a cooperation agreement to Philips, where Philips will take over the manufacturing of the product under a joint branding with Philips, and they will also manage stock control in cooperation with Kokoon.

Internally, Kokoon is now focusing purely on its integrated technology licensing and software platform; its first significant partnership agreement with its development partner, Philips Audio, is non-exclusive, and further cooperations are envisaged. The Sleep Headphones are now being sold both direct through Kokoon's own channels and through Philips' retail distribution system, with a planned worldwide rollout over the next 12-18 months, where Philips uses Kokoon technology exclusively to provide its wearable sleep technology. Meanwhile, Kokoon also generates recurring revenue through app subscriptions.
